SCulptural CERAMICS

Hand-coiled sculptural porcelain pots that are produced slowly using a few simple tools from my home studio in London. Each vessel I make is totally unique and resemble female figures that are grounded, solid, and immovable; they are about motherhood, separation and being in limbo.

I’m interested in the relationship between form and surface pattern and my pots are covered in hand-drawn patterns of lines, spots and dots with a restricted colour palette of blue, white and sometimes a little pink.

About

After a career in branding and design, I returned to working with clay as a way of managing a long-term chronic illness. Every decision about the way I make is driven by a desire to reach a flow state so my hands, mind and the clay are totally in sync.

Although, my work is about the weight of responsibility and the loads mothers carry; they are also beautiful functional objects that bring joy, comfort and strength.
